"Fences are made for those who cannot fly."

says Elbert Hubbard.

I have an idea for next Spring. I want to tear down the older chickenwire fence and build a wood fence. I also want to double the size of the garden. I got a lot of space to work with back there and might as well do something with it besides grow grass and weeds.

I really want to focus on a fenced in pumpkin patch. I grew pumpkins a couple years ago and some animals got to them. I would like to build a taller, wooden fence and add chicken wire to that. I throw a couple other low maintenance veggies in there, too.

Sigh.

The one year I decide to take off from the vegetable garden... IT RAINS EVERY OTHER DAY ALL SUMMER LONG!

Oh well, the soil should be good to go for next year.

We'll see ya in 2009!

Here are some of Kell's flowers around the end of July.

Another raid by nocturnal critters and a serious lack of rainfall lead to a bit of disinterest in the garden this year. I have some new strategies to implement in 09 in hope for a better yield. I really want to focus on pumpkins and sunflowers this Spring.

See ya in May.
